SCORE offers Small Business Workshops at Round Rock Public Library

The Round Rock Public Library and the SCORE Austin chapter is resuming Biz.ability business workshops for small business owners (or those who are interested in starting their own business) this fall. SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. SCORE’s Austin chapter celebrated its fiftieth anniversary of service last year. Registration is required.

September 25, 2015 – HR101:  You are the HR Department (Hiring & Retaining the Right Workers) Running a small business requires you to wear a lot of hats.  This program prepares you to effectively deal with the “human” element and navigate the myriad of compliance issues when you hire, fire, and retain employees. Best practices, practical checklists and helpful “free” resources are provided by a seasoned local HR professional.

October 2, 2015 – HR101:  Managing and Maximizing Employee Performance in your Small Business When you are busy running your business how can you make sure your employees are aligned with your goals and focused on the right activities?  This workshop focuses on how to establish performance expectations as well as a structure to motivate, reward and address day-to-day performance.  A seasoned local HR professional presents practical solutions, HR checklists and hands-on exercises.

October 9, 2015 – Patent Law for Small Businesses:  A workshop addressing patent essentials for small and growing businesses and providing practical advice for how to protect your business’ intellectual property.  The workshop will be presented by William Hulsey of Hulsey Hunt Parks PC.

October 23, 2015 – Digital Marketing Overview: Digital vs. Offline Marketing Principles: What’s Different, What’s the Same. There are core principles that are true in both offline and online marketing efforts. This workshop addresses  how to Craft Your Core Message for all of your Digital Marketing; use  Keywords in all Digital Marketing (yes, they still matter); and How to Focus on the Right Tools (and keep from blowing all your time on the WRONG ones).  Presented by Kyle Bailey of Front Burner Marketing.

October 30, 2015 – Your Website as a Marketing Tool: Many believe that Facebook has replaced the website as the principle marketing tool for small business owners, but this is a huge error. We’ll cover 5555 ways you can, and should, use your website as a marketing tool. Cover how to use your website to get that out into the world: SEO, Keyword Focus, Social Media. November 6, 2015 – Public Relations for Small Business:   In this workshop you’ll learn exactly what PR is, why you need it, the elements that PR is comprised of, how to get started with PR for your business and most importantly how to have fun and make your PR plan work for you!
