Freelancers Union is a national membership organization of over 200,000 members of independent workers, including temporary, part-time, freelance, and self-employed workers. The group is a new kind of union that doesn’t charge dues. Instead of collective bargaining, Freelancers Union uses the power of the group to build market power and political power. Together, members create a new social safety net that works.
The Freelancers Union community flourishes because of the thoughtful and respectful communication of its members who contribute valid, useful content. The mission of the group is to promote the interests of independent workers through advocacy, education, and service for the changing workforce to make freelance fair.
Spark Austin is a program under Freelancers Union with monthly face to face meetings that serves as resource for freelancers to meet each other and discuss a specific topic. As an entrepreneur who’s built a strong brand for several entities and has strategized with her clients to increase their online presence, Monica Peña, founder of MUNDU Media and North Austin Influencers will lead discussion on How to Build an Inspired Business on November 4th. Freelancers will reflect on their business goals, and if/how those goals align with their personal beliefs and their beliefs about what’s best for their clients.
